Careers Advice & Guidance

God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another.

Blessed John Henry Newman

Students from any year group who wish to discuss their career and learning choices can make an appointment with our School Careers Coordinator, or our Services for Young People, PA, by calling in to the Careers Office in Student Services.

Form Tutors and other school staff can refer individual students at times when it is felt that they will particularly benefit from one-to-one careers advice. All Year 11 students are encouraged to take up face-to-face advice and guidance from our Services for Young People Advisor to help them explore a variety of education and career options and draw up an individual careers action plan to help them make a successful transition to post-16 learning.

Sixth Form students also receive advice from Services for Young People, Hertfordshire. Students can have ongoing contact via email to help them make the right choices for the future. Parents and carers are very welcome to attend appointments or to contact the careers department.

Students aged 13 -18 are also directed to the National Careers Service where they can access independent online and telephone guidance from a National Careers Service adviser. This free service is available daily from 8am-10pm. There is also extensive information and advice on choosing subjects, exploring career ideas, case studies and frequently asked questions on the Young People section of the National Careers Service website.
