Working at the School
We welcome applications from high calibre individuals who support our school ethos.
John F. Kennedy Catholic School is an 11-18 comprehensive with 1110 students on roll including 200 in the Sixth Form. The School is consistently over-subscribed because of its high reputation in the community. In March 2017 we were judged by Ofsted to be a 'good' school and in February 2024 a Section 48 Inspection judged the RE department and the Catholic Life of the School to be good. The school qualified for an SSAT Educational Outcomes Award 2014 for being in the top 20% of all non-selective schools nationally for high average grades achieved by students.
Academic results at all levels are high. While high priority is given to student achievement, this is not seen to conflict with the aim of providing a community which affirms the value of each student irrespective of ability. We emphasise also the importance of the quality of our offering to our students in out-of-school activities and recognise that the teenage years are not just a preparation for the future but should themselves be fulfilled and enjoyed.
The quality of teaching and learning, the search for excellence as an integral part of the spiritual quest and the holistic development of our students, remain of paramount importance to us. The energy and commitment of staff at JFK is second to none and the part they play in challenging, channelling and nurturing the enthusiasms of the students cannot be underestimated. This is what allows us to remain as one of the very best Catholic Schools. We trust that this will be continued by the new staff we recruit.
Our success is down to team work at all levels and all staff are well supported by excellent networks within school, these include:
- ECT Programme
- New Middle Leaders
- Coaching
- Membership of the Teaching & Learning Group
- SEND Training
- IT Support Training
JFK and the All Saints Catholic Academy Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to enhanced DBS checks, satisfactory references and any other safeguarding checks that are required at the time of appointment.
